Why functional medicine?
Functional medicine is aimed at getting to the root cause of your health issue and helping to repair your body, while traditional allopathic (Western) medicine simply prolong chronic disease through pharmaceuticals. By employing lifestyle interventions and targeted supplementation, clients begin to regain health and to believe in the healing capacity of their own body.
Functional medicine is also excellent for maintaining and optimizing your health. If you already feel well and vibrant, we can ensure you stay that way by looking at what you’re doing right, and what can be improved!
My Process
Prior to our first visit, you will fill out a health history or intake questionnaire so that I can get a picture of what your current challenges are.
At our initial consultation, we will discuss your health journey and identify what health issues are most important for you. This initial consultation can also help to identify that which is most important for you, if you are unsure about what your health goals are. I’ll also get a better picture of what kinds of testing and interventions you’re comfortable with. By structuring this session as both an intake of health history and a coaching session, it ensures that I get to know you and it sets the foundation for the functional medicine plan that we create together. This plan can include obtaining lab work (depending on package), setting goals, discussing lifestyle interventions (diet, exercise, sleep, stress management), and any supplements that might help optimize your health.
