Why functional medicine?

Functional medicine is aimed at getting to the root cause of your health issue and helping to repair your body, while traditional allopathic (Western) medicine simply prolong chronic disease through pharmaceuticals. By employing lifestyle interventions and targeted supplementation, clients begin to regain health and to believe in the healing capacity of their own body.

Functional medicine is also excellent for maintaining and optimizing your health. If you already feel well and vibrant, we can ensure you stay that way by looking at what you’re doing right, and what can be improved!

My Process

Prior to our first visit, you will complete all paperwork and fill out a health history/intake questionnaire. This helps me to get a picture of what your current challenges are.

At our Initial Functional Medicine Consultation (after I have reviewed your intake paperwork) we will discuss your weight-loss journey and identify what issues are most important for you. I like to approach this as a “choose your own adventure,” where you have several options to choose from with regards to optimizing your dietary and movement/exercise plans. I’ll get lab work and prescriptions ordered, and we’ll get an initial weight-loss/body re-composition plan started.

The Follow-up Report of Findings visit will be a more in-depth review of your lab results, and we will check-in about what other interventions would optimize and accelerate your weight-loss (ex. detoxification, improving sleep, focusing more on cardio vs. strength, improving diet quality or focusing on macronutrient composition, optimizing hormones, etc.).

Remaining Follow-up Visits will continue to evaluate progress and make modifications to the plan to ensure continued success.
